meeting Anton del Rosario and Drew aka "Pier Roxas"

In relation to my previous photo entry... on the day before my birthday (Jan. 15, 2011), I had a photoshoot with two male TV/sports personalities! Meet Anton del Rosario of the Philippine National Football Team (aka The Azkals) and Drew Rivera, the male model who played Pier Roxas in Nokia's N8 advertisements. They're incredibly funny and down-to-earth -- no wonder girls always go gaga over these two! I'll be posting the actual photos soon, once I get the go signal from the big boss.

Special thanks to Chere and Joanne of W Talent Agency and Gelo Clavano (my best bud) for helping me out with the lighting! This is just an outtake though, in between background and lighting setup changes.

Snapshots: Lunch/Dessert date with Hannah

Spent a few hours with my high school best bud, Hannah eating (and driving) around Makati. It felt great to be able to walk around while updating each other with what's been going on in our lives. We were talking about how fast 2010 has gone by. In my 20 years of existence, I would definitely say that 2010 has been the "fastest" year in my life. I don't know where all the months have gone! Perhaps I should make a 2010 recap entry -- it would be nice to reminisce about the fun times I had this year. Hannah wrote a 2010 recap entry for her blog and it made me realize that 2010 was such an eventful year for the both of us.

Anyway, we had lunch at Chicken BonChon at Ayala Triangle Gardens. Hooray for good food and great company! Alas, I was not able to take my camera with me because I rushed to BonChon to meet Hannah! It was raining cats and dogs in the area and I left my umbrella at home. :(

We enjoyed the Soy Garlic chicken wings. It reminded me of the time when my good friend Gabby took me to KyoChon (or was that actually BonChon...? Hmmm...) at Koreatown in LA and we scarfed down that box of wings like there was no tomorrow! I'm really glad it's in Makati and close to where I live. I will definitely be coming back for more. I especially loved the park ambiance of Ayala Triangle Gardens. I was there last Monday night and appreciated all the lights and the cool breeze. Unfortunately, I was not able to take pictures of that as well.

Our next stop was Bonifacio High Street, where we stopped by Starbucks and Cupcakes By Sonja for quick chats about school, work, friends, and family. I took my camera with me this time. Here are some snapshots:

Hannah took this photo of me at Starbucks Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street

So...it rained pretty hard, and my newly washed sneakers ended up looking like this.

SHHHH! (I'm sorry! I couldn't help myself! HAHAHAHA)

Cupcakes By Sonja's Mocha Motion cupcake...yum!

Cleeyo Hamby (1/2)

Something different from the usual portraiture that I do, but I'm really happy with the results. It was also my first time to hold a night strobist photoshoot! It was a bit of a challenge but Cleeyo was such a pro! Special thanks to the Policios twins, Sarah and Sam, for assisting me and styling the clothes and accessories. Props to Anjie Gogna for the awesome makeup!

I'll be posting more shots of the other layouts that we did during that night, so keep checking back for it!

portraits: Jessi Sto. Domingo

Jessi's eyes and smile just light up the room! On the other side of the spectrum, her model pout adds so much drama to the other photos. I love this girl -- her look is so dynamic!

Note: these portraits were actually taken before her hair was done, which explains the (slightly) unkempt hair. ;)

portraits: Rigs

So Rosanna asked me the other day if I could shoot some portraits and headshots for her friend, Rigs. I immediately agreed because I think I am sorely lacking in photos of guys in my current photography portfolio! I was a bit nervous at first because I have very little (negligible, actually) experience in male portraiture, but I'm glad I said yes. Even though we got rained out earlier, the photos we got were worth getting drizzled on.

Rigs took a while to warm up to the camera but even the 'candid' shots turned out great!
I learned one valuable lesson today -- always have a reflector handy in case of a [sudden] gloomy sky on the day of your shoot. I swear to God, having one to work with saved my photos. I'm really loving the silver side of the reflector that I have; using it makes the face and eyes glow with such a beautiful catchlight. Anyway, here are outtakes that we all liked. Isn't he photogenic?

And it's so awesome how Rosanna and Mikko did a great job on the styling. My dear friends Vichka and Kris were there to help out as well, and I loved how everything and everyone just gelled together and made this simple shoot an experience to remember -- well, at least for me, it was. I guess this won't be the last time I'll be taking portraits of guys.

photoshoot with Kryz Uy

Last October 29, I was at my favorite place to shoot, Rouge Studio, with my friend Mark Tiu. We all got together to take portraits of my friend, style blogger Kryz Uy, who wrote about the shoot here. Thank you, Kryz! I also had a film SLR (Olympus OM-2N) with me, but I still don't have the photos processed, so I'll save those photos for another post. This is my second time to shoot with Kryz and the first time to shoot with a film camera for studio shots. Here are just some of the photos from the shoot (from my trusty Canon 500d). I must say, Kryz registers really well on camera!

pegs for the shoot (that we never really followed..whoops)

I told Kryz to twirl for one of the shots...she moved with such grace! Then it hit me. Silly me, I forgot she was a dancer!

11th of October photoshoot (2 of 2)

Lucky to have snapped this candid shot. The ladies look lovely!

Before I started shooting, I asked her to pose for a portrait/test shot.
